Seattle Public Library | Seattle, WA | Rem Koolhaas
Taking up a whole city block in the heart of downtown Seattle, Koolhaas’ stacked and staggered eleven-story glass and steel building makes for a striking and unique statement against the urban streetscape. Housing 1.4 million volumes of books, the Seattle Public Library has not only become a destination for bibliophiles, but its architecture has turned the library into a landmark destination as well.
*This was taken while I was strolling in the roads of Seattle, I found myself at 2nd Avenue, in front of the Seattle Art Museum, with the huge hammering man dominating the place.
I took this October of 2005 when I first moved to Washington state. I loved going on mini roadtrips, getting lost, finding eateries, boutiques, one-of-a-kind places. Seattle was my favorite mini road trip to take from Tacoma on the weekends.
Seattle.
